Family House
A compact, contemporary family house on a challenging plot with a narrow, side-adjacent buildable site. The building's simple, gable-roofed main volume gains a character that is decisive yet close to nature, responding to the conditions of the site. A key consideration of the design was parking for the farmer owner's large machinery, provided by a garage and service wing connected to the house. The heart of the interior is the large shared living space, which opens to the garden through generous glazing and a covered terrace. The light render, natural timber cladding and dark roofing create a harmonious, restrained overall impression. The building's energy-efficient operation is reinforced by the use of renewable energy and natural materials.
